Your Houston, TX dentist has cosmetic treatments to revitalize any smile.
Do you have severely chipped or decaying teeth? Do you have missing teeth? Are you looking for a way to revive your once beautiful smile? Do you want to feel confident talking to colleagues at work and spending time with family and friends without worrying that people are staring at your smile and not you? Dr. David Citek, cosmetic dentist in Houston, TX, has been addressing these issues and helping patients restore function and beauty back into their smiles. Here are some of the ways your Houston dentist has given patients the renewed smiles they want.
Dental bridges
When you are missing one or more teeth, the gap that this tooth loss creates causes your other teeth to shift into these spaces. This ultimately causes malocclusion, or a bad bite, as well as an increased risk for gum disease and TMJ. If you are missing one or more teeth, Dr. Citek may recommend a bridge to replace these lost teeth.
Bridges are specially cemented to surrounding teeth or implants. Your surrounding teeth act as anchors, holding the bridge in place. The replacement tooth, known as a pontic, is a false tooth that takes the place of your missing tooth. Bridges make it easier to speak and enjoy meals again, they prevent other teeth from moving out of alignment, they help your face maintain its shape and they restore smiles.
Crowns
Crowns are made from porcelain or ceramic and cover the entire tooth to strengthen and restore esthetics. It can also help with shape and alignment. The crown’s color is also matched to the rest of your teeth to create a natural-looking smile. A crown is used to protect weak teeth from further damage, to replace a large filling, to cover a dental implant or tooth that’s had root canal therapy, or to attach a bridge.
Dentures
You’ve probably already heard of dentures, a removable device that replaces your missing teeth and tissue. Dentures can either be complete or partial depending on whether the patient has some natural teeth remaining. Dentures are characterized by a row of artificial teeth that are attached to a flesh-colored base that’s made to look like your gums. With the use of clasps, dentures can attach to healthy natural teeth to stay in place.
Bonding
Dental bonding is considered one of the simplest cosmetic dental procedures. Bonding uses a tooth-colored resin to fix chips, fractures, decaying parts and even discolorations. While bonding is often used for cosmetic reasons, it can also change the shape of a tooth or be used as an alternative to fillings. Your natural tooth will first be buffed out and then an adhering liquid will be applied. Once this is complete, your Houston cosmetic dentist will apply the tooth-colored bonding resin to your tooth and harden it with a laser to restore your tooth back to its original look and function.
If you’re looking to turn your smile from “Yikes” to “Wow”, then consider cosmetic dentistry in Houston, TX. Give Dr. David Citek a call to setup your next visit.
